Soluble cutting oils are diluted with water and provide better cooling, suited for general machining. Neat (straight) oils are used undiluted and provide superior lubrication, suited for heavy-duty cutting of difficult alloys.
Regularly test concentration with a refractometer and top up with concentrate as needed — concentration that's too low reduces corrosion protection, while too high wastes fluid and can affect surface finish.
Many of our formulations are compatible with both, but always check the specific product's technical data sheet, as some non-ferrous metals require fluids without certain additives.
